Mr. Jones has significant experience in the field of Local Government Law. He currently serves as the County Attorney for Clay County, N.C. As the Clay County Attorney, he advises the County Commissioners, the County Manager, the Sheriff, and other County Departments. Additionally, he currently serves as the Interim County Attorney for Macon County, N.C. He formerly represented Graham County as its County Attorney for approximately ten years, and he assisted in the representation of both Macon County, N.C., and the Town of Franklin, N.C., for a number of years. He is available to consult with and represent Local Governments, individuals and others who have Local Government Law concerns.

Mr. Jones handles the prosecution and defense of civil lawsuits in both the District Court and the Superior Court Divisions of the General Court of Justice for the State of North Carolina. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
Mr. Jones has handled numerous juvenile abuse, neglect and dependency proceedings. Presently, he represents the Social Services Department of Clay County, N.C., in such proceedings. Additionally, he from time to time does contract work for the Jackson County, N.C., Department of Social Services and the Graham County, N.C., Department of Social Services. Formerly, he represented the Macon County, N.C., Department of Social Services for in excess of fifteen years and the Swain County, N.C., Department of Social Services for approximately six years. . He is available to prosecute or defend juvenile proceedings.

Mr. Jones handles appeals from the trial courts to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Mr. Jones represents contractors and owners in the construction process and in construction disputes. Representation includes contract negotiation, contract drafting and the litigation of construction disputes.

Mr. Jones represents corporations and businesses in day to day matters as well as in commercial litigation including unfair and deceptive trade practices cases. Representation includes business formation and consultation.

Mr. Jones handles divorce, custody, separation and property settlement agreements, domestic violence, guardianships, and adoptions.

Mr. Jones handles routine legal matters such as durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, simple wills, living wills, and collections.
